The Event:  Mount Lucia Trail Race is a 5 Mile Trail Run, Hike, or Ruck in Sioux City, IA.  There will also be a kids (12 and under) 1k run.

The Time:  The run will occur on October 3rd, 2026.  There is a race day schedule below.

Registration: Registration will be available on Ultrasignup.com soon.  Registration will be $40 (Plus Ultrasignup fees) until the registration cutoff.  Race day registration may be available depending on registration numbers.

The Place:  Mount Lucia Trail Race starts and finishes at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center in Sioux City, Iowa.  The Nature Center is situated above the Big Sioux River in the Loess Hills of Iowa.  The Loess Hills are a beautiful geologic formation of blown sediment that settled in Western Iowa and created these hills.

The Course:  The course will start in the parking area of the Nature Center and will run briefly on the access road to the nature center before heading onto the trails.  The trails are mostly double track and surfaces range from dirt to woodchip to gravel.  The course passes through deciduous forests, remnant prairie ridge tops, steep valleys, and more.  Both Nature Center trails and Stone State Park Trails are used for this route. The route is fairly hills with nearly 700’ of elevation gain over 5 miles.  This is a trail race so there may be uneven footing, rocks, roots, acorns, sticks, and more.  We will do our best to remove debris from the trail before the race.  The course will be well marked with signs, flags, and ropes.

The Swag:  While supplies last, 5 mile participants will receive a custom race logo mug from local potter, Jake Van Wyk.

Packet Pickup:  Packets will be available at Peak Performance on Friday, October 2nd from 12-6.  They will also be available to pickup on race morning from 8:00-9:00.

Awards:  Custom Trophies for the top 3 overall.  Medals for top 3 in each age group.  Age groups: 29 and Under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+
