  President's Message

I can’t believe a month has flown by already.  The funny thing is - all month long things kept happening and I would say, “That would make a great topic for my next President’s Message!”  I knew I should have written them down while they were fresh in my mind.

This past month has been a bit hectic with increasing my marathon training, hosting Diva Fitness Night @ Peak Performance and planning Spring Thaw.  All – of which have and are going well.

This next month will entail planning for the S Sioux City Kids Triathlon, more marathon training to prepare for Lincoln (I do love that taper week!) and going to Boston.  I am extremely excited to go watch the  Boston marathon.  I am going to cheer for MRR member, Jan Poulson.  She will be running on the Goodwill Team.  She was the first on the team to raise her funding and won 2 tickets for her support crew to sit in the Boston Athletic Association Box.  I am so honored to be her support crew!  I have always wanted to run Boston – just one thing holding me back…….my speed (or lack there of) I should say.  The good news is that I am getting older (you don’t hear people happily saying that much do you?)  I know once I get there and experience it – just like everything else in my life – I will figure out a way to make it a reality!  This weekend I discovered 2 other MRR members will be running in Boston as well – Andriette Wickstrom & Julie Johnston.  I am so excited to go and cheer for them.  In addition, I hope to have the opportunity to meet up with Dave Dixon – MRR’s past president.  Dave was a huge inspiration to me and many others in the club.  He also fired me up to compete in IronMan Florida.  It was his strong passion and leadership skills that made MRR the amazing organization that it is today.

So – I hope your month is great.  Thank you all for supporting the Spring Thaw on April 5th.  It was a record race and we were very pleased with the response.  Finally, spring has arrived and we can begin shedding the winter gear.

Keep runnin’
